The Bolands are said (by some of the Bolands) to be descended from Ann Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII. It is said that she sailed around the south coast of Ireland, landing in County Clare, perhaps changing her name to Boland. Would this have been before or after her divorce from the infamous founder of the Church of England, not to mention the Church of Ireland? History has it that their divorce decree was dramatically final – Poor Ann was beheaded in the Tower of London! Or Perhaps, it was someone substituted for Ann who lost her head over Henry!
An interesting story, which is just that.
