Fred Rockwood Barton married twice. He married Cecilia Virginia WIGHT May 30, 1942. Cecilia was born February 19, 1918 in Flagstaff, AZ. Cecilia died July 16, 1964 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA, at 46 years of age. He married Froncie Moyer EDMONDS June 19, 1965 in Burbank, CA. Froncie was born 24 March 1914 in MO. Froncie died 29 November 1992 at 78 years of age. Born in Westboro, MA, Fred grew up in Worcester graduating from Worcester Classical High and attending Becker Business College. In 1940 he went to California to attend Curtiss Wright Tech. Using these skills in aviation mechanics, he was employed by Lockheed Aircraft Corp. as a research mechanic, field service instructor and senior maintainability engineer traveling extensively for the company.  Eldest son, Fred Joseph was killed in a military air crash just before his 21st birthday while serving at Clark Air Base in the Phillipines, their second child Marcia Ruth died of Leukemia at age 3, then three more sons were born; Dennis, Kenneth and George. Fred and 2nd wife Froncie Moyer Edmonds moved to Hemet in 1980. Fred is responsible for much of the research on the Croydon branch of the Barton family for which the compiler is very grateful.

Fred Rockwood Barton, 90, of Menifee, a former resident of Hemet, died Nov. 3, 2008, at Menifee Valley Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Church of Religious Science in Hemet. Private scattering of ashes will be at sea….
