German Equatorial Mount

A German Equatorial Mount or “GEM” is a mount for a telescope which compensates for the Earth’s Rotation by having one rotational axis. This allows the mount to negate the earths rotation and allows for my camera to focus on faint night sky objects for prolonged period of time.

German Equatorial Mounts can go for thousands of dollars. I figured since I own a mill and a lathe, I should combine my interests to see if I can build an equatorial mount. This project is not my highest priority, but I do work on it from time to time.
