Sarah Elizabeth, daughter of Trobride and Charlotte Allen, born in Greensville, Ohio, April 12, 1840.  She was united in marriage to Alfred R. Rathbun, May 19th 1864.  Four sons and one daughter were born to this union, the daughter  and one son having preceded her to the Heavenly Land.

One January 2nd, 1873, she was bereft of her husband.  The was united again in marriage to William B. Lewis and to this unions was born one son who died in his childhood.  November 12, 1877, death again entered the home and she was for the second time left a widow.

She suffered a great many hardships in order to support herself and children until they were old enough to assist her.  She was again united in marriage to William Darst, on December 24,1884.  But it seemed to be her lot to travel life’s rigged pathway alone, for in April 1886, the Grim Monster again entered the home and her husband was taken from her.

She moved with her three sons to Redkey, on March 29th, 1894,  where she has resided until her death which occurred on August 29th, 1910, after a lingering illness of four months.  She had past the allotted time of three score years and ten, being at the time of her death, seventy years, four months and thirteen days.

She was converted and member of the United Brethren church of live at what was then Otterbein Chapel, new Blue***.

She leaves to mourn, three sons, Ulysses G, Clark and Ozro G. Rathbun, one sister, Mrs B. F. Kemp, north Manchester Ind. together with many other relatives and friends.  Funeral servers were held and the U.B. church, Sunday afternoon an 1 o’clock, conducted by the Rev J.H. Nall and Rev. J.K Walts, Interment at Zoar cemetery.
